How we assess students:

Students are assessed according to AQA Assessment objectives: AO1: Develop, AO2: Refine, AO3: Record, AO4: Present.

The course is graded based upon a 60% coursework, and 40% Exam basis. Coursework consists of a ‘Personal Investigation’ which is specific to each student.

How homework is set:

Homework is set on a regular basis and supports coursework/exam work. Homework and independent learning is integral to success on the course. Students are expected to complete photoshoots outside of lessons weekly in order to develop their creativity and technical understanding.

How parents/carers can support their child:

Encourage students to take photographs at every opportunity either documenting the world around them, or using photography to visualise ideas inspired their experience, or fiction they digest. Visit galleries and exhibitions to allow children to experience Art and photography away from a screen or a page and in a gallery environment.

Although students will have access to cameras while in school, equipment is not lean out and therefore it is of paramount importance that students have access to either a bridge, or preferably a DSLR camera outside of the classroom.
