School Catering and Healthy Eating

Catering montageAt Easthampstead Park Community School, we believe that healthy students are best able to take full advantage of the educational opportunities that the school provides. We recognise that a healthy diet contributes to children’s wellbeing, behaviour and learning.

Meeting need and respecting choice

We recognise that all students, staff and visitors have the right to a choice about their food and drink intake in line with their cultural, dietary and medical needs. We aim to educate and encourage students to make a balanced decision about food, lifestyle and exercise.

Food Provision

All our school meals and school snacks are provided by a contracted caterer who is employed directly by the School following an invitation to tender.

Meals available - All food provided by the Breakfast Club, sold as snacks or school lunches comply with the nutrient based standards and food-based standards for chool lunches.
Packed lunches - Students may bring packed lunches to school and are encouraged to sit down and eat them in the Restaurant.
Water - Water is accessible throughout the day and students are able to take bottles of water into lessons. Water is available to visitors and staff in he reception area.

Medical issues

Certain foodstuffs may be required to be carried by students on the grounds of medical need (e.g. diabetic students may need to carry sugar/chocolate). Epipens that may be required by certain students due to allergic reaction are kept in the Welfare Office.
