Autumn Term (term 1 and 2) Y7
During the Autumn term students will be completing work centering on themselves in a ‘This is Me’ unit. They will be considering how their personality traits affects the ways in which they learn best and setting themselves both short term and long term goals for their future.
Later in the term, students will be completing work around anti-bullying and contributing work towards the school and Bracknell Forest anti-bullying competitions which are coordinated by Mr Martin.
Spring Term (term 3 and 4) Y7
The academic year continues with the Health unit. This examines the importance of a balanced diet, regular exercise and hygiene throughout their lives.
The second half of the Spring term looks at substance abuse and focusses on alcohol and its effects on the individual.
Summer Term (term 5 and 6) Y7
During the Summer term students will study finance. They will discuss spending wants and needs as well as budgeting and banking.
The academic year will finish with a unit on relationships that looks at shyness and confidence as well as communication, working together and the use of social media.
Autumn Term (term 1 and 2) Y8
During the Autumn term students will be completing work around substance abuse, specifically looking at alcohol and its effects on the individual and its wider impact.
Later in the term Year 8 will be taking time to consider their future in a Careers unit. They will look at the concept of work and the contributions that all jobs and careers can make to society.
Spring Term (term 3 and 4) Y8
The academic year continues with further consideration of their future careers where students will have the opportunity to research how to achieve their goals and ambitions by using CascAid.
The second half of the Spring term looks at Rights, Responsibilities and Law. The unit will examine why laws are imposed and the role in which the police, court system and punishment play with law enforcement.
Summer Term (term 5 and 6) Y8
During the Summer term students will study Relationships. They will look at the similarities and difference between friendship and love. students will also discuss the use of social media and the impact that sexting can have.
The academic year will finish with a unit on Finance. Students will examine what they spend money on and how they are able to budget. They will also discover reason for people being in debt and how this can be managed.
|How we assess students:
Students are not formally assessed in PSHE however students are encouraged to contribute and actively participate in lessons to gain vital and transferable learning skills.

Parents and carers are encouraged to discuss PSHE topics with their child, to listen to their ideas and help them to develop their understanding.
