On Thursday 20th April a group of year 8 students were thrilled to have the opportunity to meet the very interesting (and hilarious) Dave Rudden, author of “Knights of the Borrowed Dark” and its sequel “The Lost Court” at LVS in Ascot.
Our students certainly had an amazing time. Here are some of their comments:
“Excellent author with such an amazing personality, he taught us that no idea is a bad idea and that you don’t need amazing spelling and grammar to be a writer. He also stated that you don’t have to get it right first time and that “every word is a weapon”. He also shared his own life experiences with a comedic tone, sharing stories about broken glass, Star Wars and crisps…” (Chloe)
“After Dave Rudden’s performance I am inspired to write …meeting him was an experience I won’t ever forget as he opened my eyes to the world of writing and taught me that anyone can write” (Cerys)
“The whole experience was hilarious, he is funny and you could relate to him. I liked it when he talked of “made up” words like “handcapitate” 10/10 – you really should meet him!” (Eleanor)
“We asked Dave questions and he told us funny stories and read extracts from his book. He gave away a free signed copy of his book for the best question which Kiran won and had a signing in the library – he even signed Nathan’s Maoam! Overall it was a really fun day and we met a really great author” (Arthur)
“it made me want to start reading again. I can’t wait to read his book!” (Charlotte)

Kiran’s award-winning question: “If one of your characters could meet a character from Harry Potter who would it be and what why?”
