A-Level results day, 10th August 2021
Many congratulations to our fabulous Year 13 students on their excellent A-Level results, which they received this morning. Despite the challenges posed by COVID-19, our students have excelled themselves, and their achievements are evidence of their focus and resilience throughout the last two years. They deserve their results and should be applauded for their efforts and maturity throughout.
Ronnie Tamale, Director of Sixth Form commented “Over the last two years, our Year 13 students have adapted superbly to challenging circumstances, maintaining a fantastic work ethic and support of each other throughout. These outstanding A level results are a testament to their resilience and hard work; we are immensely proud of their journeys at Easthampstead Park Community School and wish them the very best of luck in their next steps.”
As well as their fantastic academic results, this year group have made significant contributions to our wider school life and developed skills which will serve them well as they progress on the next steps of their academic or working life. The majority of students will now go on to study courses at prestigious universities including English Literature at Oxford, Global Humanitarian Studies at UCL, Physics at Nottingham, Neuroscience at Cardiff and Fine Art at Loughborough.
This year’s group were the first to benefit from our special partnership with Johnson & Johnson whose staff have given generously of their time to support and mentor these students throughout their time in the Sixth Form. They have also supported a number of students with generous bursaries to support the purchase of books and equipment so they have everything they need to succeed at university. The Johnson & Johnson partnership is unique to EPCS, and we look forward to continuing to work with them with the rising Year 12.
Following the challenges of two lock downs and the cancellation of exams, grades were awarded through a process of teacher assessed grades, against a national standard and approved and awarded by the exam boards. As a result neither headline statistics or performance data for any schools are being published due to the varying impact of the pandemic.
Headteacher, Liz Cook, said: “We are immensely proud of the hard work and achievements of our students, especially after such a difficult and disrupted year. I would like to thank our dedicated staff who have worked tirelessly to ensure that students’ experience was positive and they are able to progress onto their next steps with confidence. The young people have managed the challenges of the last two years incredibly well and should be very proud of their achievements this summer as well as the resilience and determination they have shown throughout their studies. We look forward to all the success that these amazing young people will go on to achieve and I wish them all successful and happy futures that they are deserving of. Finally I would like to thank the parents who have supported their child and the school. We hope you remain in touch with the EPCS Community. ”
